Billion-Dollar Urban Village Planned
21 May 2003 - 7:00am
Ramsey, a city known as a stoplight amid RV dealerships, will break ground on a billion-dollar plan to turn vacant farmland into a transit-oriented urban village.
"City officials envision a transit-oriented community similar to the North Shore suburbs of Chicago, with the flavor of a European town square. Ramsey has been for years the poster child for urban sprawl where people moved up and bought inexpensive land for their starter homes,' said Jim Norman, Ramsey's city administrator. The Ramsey Town Center 'will place Ramsey as one of the hubs of the metropolitan area, a destination.'"
